Sustainable Kilkeel Vision 2020

This was a collaborative infrastructure project aimed at developing a new outer harbour which would deliver strategic growth and development opportunities.

Project Overview

This was a collaborative project aimed at creating a Sustainable 2020 Vision for Kilkeel Harbour. It brought together 9 local companies and organisations to create a cross sector strategic plan to develop a new outer harbour, which included sustainable energy, land reclamation, new factories & industrial units, marina, marine leisure hotel spa, seafood research and development facility.

The project was estimated to cost between £35m – £90million depending on what elements the final plan included and could be financed through RIO. It required extensive stakeholder private, public and community engagement and lobbying. The project was presented to HRH Prince of Wales & Duchess of Cornwall when they visited Kilkeel.
